Flax pulled by metal hackles

Clothes from the field: Flax becomes linen

The flax plant provided the raw material for textiles. The children learn how complex linen production was under the living conditions of the former Eifel residents. You will learn about flax cultivation from seed to harvest and the individual steps of flax processing to linen thread. The field, the water grate and the kiln are also visited. In separate groups, the children work in pairs on the traditional equipment reef, breaker, swing arm and hackle. The 2nd group can independently explore the Eifel with the journey of discovery "flax processing". Will swap later.
