The friends' association of the open-air museum offers a diverse and varied program of courses for adults and children.

Basket weaving
The participants learn various basic techniques of weaving and make a wicker basket according to their own ideas.
Please bring with you, if available: sharp knife with a stiff blade, pruning shears, awl, chisel
Target group: max. 8 adults

Chair weaving
The participants learn how to reweave a chair with Viennese coffee house/octagon weave. If you would like to learn how to braid a rush seat, please let us know when you register.
If you have any, please bring with you: the braid that you have cut out, a sharp knife, side cutters, an awl, pressure pliers, and a stopper. In any case, bring the chair to be braided in good condition.

Spinning
Processing sheep's wool was a typical housekeeping work within the framework of rural self -sufficiency. Today it's a popular hobby.
With a little skill, you learn to process the ready-to-use yarn on the spinning wheel. Spider bikes and wool are provided.

Duminals and mowing with the scythe
In a one -day course, learn how to use the scythe and after work your scythe.

Fruit tree pruning on the meadow orchards
The program includes the professional pruning of the current and older trees on the museum's meadow orchards. After the morning theory part, after the lunch break, professional pruning is practiced on the museum's orchards.
This course also benefits the museum itself: good fruit tree pruning contributes to a rich harvest.

Much of the knowledge about the benefits of our wild plants has been lost in recent decades. During a tour of the museum grounds, this knowledge is refreshed and usable and unusable plants are sought and identified.
Afterwards, the edible and tasty wild herbs can be tried.

Appointment: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Children's eyes discover the open-air museum in Kommern through the lens of a camera. The children can choose up to three topics: Find the animals in the open-air museum and photograph them in their natural environment Look for different windows and/or doors Find different floor coverings in and around the houses Photograph people at work (e.g. baker, blacksmith) Discover the herb garden What interesting tree bark or growths can you find If possible, bring the following equipment with you: weather appropriate clothing, digital camera or cell phone a second breakfast or a small snack on the go unsweetened drinks (because of wasp danger)
Target group: max. 12 people.
