Directions to the open-air museum
By car
The Museum is well signposted from some distance:
From motorway A1: Exit "Kommern / Wißkirchen", B266 in the direction of Obergartzem, turn right onto the K20/Eickser Straße.
After approx. 1 km you will see the museum car-park on the left hand side.
By train
Travel by train to Mechernich Bf.
From there, take the
MiKE line 773
to the open-air museum.
Public transport advantage ticket! If you travel by bus or train, you can visit the open-air museum at a reduced price of €10 (instead of the regular €11). Simply show your public transport ticket at the ticket office!
IMPORTANT: The MiKE line 773 only runs like a regular bus according to a timetable if you book in advance. Please order your journey at least 30 minutes before the desired departure (also earlier or outward and return journey together) by telephone on 02441-99454545 or online via the RVK or the RVK app.
Groups of 5 or more people should book at least three working days before departure so that a suitable vehicle can be provided.
Shuttle service to the cash desk (in summer season)
From November 1st to March 31st the shuttle bus does not run
On weekends and public holidays we offer you a chauffeur service from the car park to the ticket office from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The walk from the parking lot to the ticket office is very steep. If you want, you are welcome to use our free driver service. Simply use the call button on the glass house by the entrance and you will be picked up there
Access to the ticket office for people with restricted mobility
There are parking spaces for people with severely disabled parking permits in front of the ticket office.
The journey here is via the "Neue Pfalz": About 400 meters before the entrance to the museum car park, the street "Neue Pfalz" turns left. At the beginning of the forest, turn right into the small road.
If you do not have a parking permit, you can let older people or people with restricted mobility get off here. However, your vehicle must be parked in the large museum car park below.
