WirRheinländer - permanent exhibition
On April 5, 2006, the permanent exhibition "WirRheinländer" was opened in the LVR open-air museum in Kommern. Since then, it has invited visitors to take a tour of the fictional small town "Rhenania" on an exhibition area of 1,400 square meters. This tour begins with the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine by the French revolutionary troops in 1794 and ends with the "economic miracle" around 1955. The focus is on the effects of political and economic developments on the living conditions of the urban population.
Audio guide through the exhibition “WirRheinländer”
The audio guide takes you through the “most Rhineland small town in the Rhineland”.
Come on a journey through time through winding streets with Rhenish houses. These are of course not uninhabited: French and Prussian soldiers, craftsmen, merchants, market women, teachers, carnivalists, police officers, revolutionaries, senior daughters and many others... “live” in these houses and represent historical scenes from the history of the Rhineland .
