Walks around the Museum

How much time do I need?
The Open Air Museum has extensive grounds. The historical buildings are divided into five Groups of Buildings located in the 110-hectare area. To gain an overview you need at least two hours, for the „We Rhinelanders“ exhibition another hour, which is also true for the special exhibitions.
You can easily stretch out your museum visit to take up a whole day. There are lots of places to rest and a restaurant which is right next to a picnic area.
On the map of the grounds and in the museum guide you will find walking routes of three different lengths.
Blue route: 0,75 mi (1.2 km) from the entrance/reception, through Westerwald and the Eifel to the Museum Square with the exhibition halls and back via Westerwald (restaurant) to the entrance.
Green route: 0,9 mi (1.5 km) from the entrance/reception, through Westerwald and the Eifel to Lower Rhine, passing both windmills to the exhibition halls and back again via Westerwald (restaurant) to the entrance.
Red route: 2 mi (2.5 km) from the entrance/reception, through Westerwald and the Eifel into Lower Rhine, passing the Cap-windmill into Bergisches Land, going by the Bock-windmill to the exhibition halls and back again via Westerwald (restaurant) to the entrance.
