Planning your Visit

The Open Air Museum is one of the largest in Europe. You will need to take some time to view the historical houses and exhibitions in the 110-hectare grounds. In order to stroll through the museum once, looking at things here and there, you need at least two hours, for the exhibition „We Rhinelanders“ another hour.
The museum is open every day of the year. Most visitors come at the weekends in summer, so that these are our busiest times. Mondays and Fridays are especially suitable for a quieter and deeper involvement with the museum.

more information

In Vogelsang, feel how much architecture was used in the 1930s and 1940s to demonstrate the power and rule of the NSDAP. The permanent exhibition "Determination: Master Man" provides comprehensive information about the history of the former Nazi Ordensburg and the men who were trained here to become the leadership elite. In the Müller cloth factory, feel what it was like to work in one of the many cloth factories in Euskirchen in the 1950s – as a weaver, spinner or darner. The machines still run today as they did then. In the LVR open-air museum in Kommern, marvel at the evidence of the economic miracle, such as the bungalow from the 1960s. The cupboards of the Tielsa fitted kitchen in Colorado yellow contain everything that the modern housewife needs, from electric knives to an automatic grill and scales in the matching shade.

Day trips - leaps in time in installments

From the date of purchase of the first ticket, you will receive reduced admission for one visit to each of the other two facilities for a year.
