The Friends of the Rheinisches Freilichtmuseum Kommern e.V. has almost two thousand members from all over Germany who help to advance the work of the museum with their contributions and by arranging donations in kind and money. Every year, the association funds a wide variety of things for the open-air museum. Whether handcarts or wheelchairs for loan in the museum shop, costumes and props for the actors in the "Played History" - the activities of the association always serve to make the history of the Rhineland an experience for the visitors of the LVR Open-Air Museum in Kommern. Many action days that take place throughout the year, such as the "Year-Old Fair", the special events "After the Harvest" or "Advent in the Museum" are based on suggestions from the Friends of the Museum - i.e. users of the museum - and are even financially supported by them .
In the Westerwald building group, near the entrance building, is the "Tante Emma-Laen" run by the development association. Here you will find German free-range pigs, which were first bred back in the Rhenish Open-Air Museum, Mettwurst, ham, black pudding and liver sausage, and much more. You can also get hearty brown bread from the museum bakery, which you can top with goat's cheese or homemade jam as you wish. The activities of the association always serve the museum guests. So it's worth becoming a member of our association for the good cause.
