Big fire, in front St. Martin on horseback and many people

Martin procession as it used to be in the village

November 5, 5 p.m.
On horseback, Sankt Martin welcomes families and groups of children to the open-air museum on Sunday, November 6 at 5 p.m. He then pulls ahead of the Martinszug, which makes its way through the museum's building blocks, which are illuminated with barn lanterns, and through the forest.
Just like in the legend of the saint, Martin will share his coat with a beggar at the big fire. The participating bands also play St. Martin's songs, which are hardly known today.
Young and old guests who bring old-style St. Martin's lanterns, such as turnip lanterns, are particularly welcome.

Entrance tickets and ordering "Weckmänner"

On the day of the Martin procession, entry to the LVR open-air museum in Kommern is free from 3 p.m. At the end of the lantern parade, Saint Martin distributes the Martinswecken with cocoa, children's punch and mulled wine in the historic dance hall. In order for the museum bakers to be able to bake a sufficient number of “Weckmänner”, advance orders are essential.
