Out of old make new!

19 June, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Reopening of the Heyerhof and the basket-making workshop in the LVR open-air museum Kommern1762
Dark clouds are gathering over the Heyerhof in Korschenbroich. The tenant of the manorial farm is so late with payments that the sovereign terminates the contract and almost the entire household is auctioned off. The story about Adolff Sitter is the new thematic anchor in the revised exhibition at the Heyerhof in the Niederrhein building group. At the same time, another building, the basket-making workshop, will be reopened from scratch.
With a new concept in terms of content and design, the open-air museum is starting a project to revise the landscape assemblies on the Kahlenbusch under the title "Out old make new!" With a redesign of the facilities in the buildings and the new information system, museum guests are brought closer to everyday life in the Rhenish past.
What did the Heyerhof look like in 1762? who lived in it? What did the farmers typically grow in their home gardens during this period? And are there still basket makers today? These and many other questions are now being answered by new mediation offers in the two newly opened buildings. Thanks to the good research situation, the Heyerhof can now be furnished as it was in 1762. The tragic story of the leaseholder Adolff Sitter, who had to auction off his entire inventory because of his debts, is the starting point in terms of content in the new concept.
Modern text panels and new media equipment allow the workshop to be visited all year round, which many people know from the visit to master basket maker Andrea Schultz-Wild German Bundestag.
