This form of „electronic treasure hunt“ leads you on a journey through time, through the entire grounds of the Open Air Museum. Solve tricky riddles and follow the trail to the cache.

What you need is a GPS-device, or a mobile phone which includes this function. For the geo-cache itself no special equipment is required; it is also possible for children from 10 years of age to solve by themselves.

You will find general instructions about geo-caching here: hier.

Geo-cache through the Open Air Museum

There are two possibilities to download the geo-cache:

From Zeitreise durch das LVR-Freilichtmuseum Kommern (here you can also log what you found and leave comments)

As a pdf download:

What is geo-caching?

A cache is a container which is hidden somewhere. On certain internet sites ( or the German language equivalent the coordinates are published, which guide the seekers, the so-called „geo-cachers" with the help of a GPS-device. So geo-caching is a kind of paper-chase. When you have found the cache, you can record this in the log-book and, what’s more, you can take a swap article with you and leave something new in its place. Many people then log what they found on one of the internet sites, together with pictures and reports of their experiences.
